CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Bulacan on Monday issued an advisory regarding the activation of dengue fast lanes in all government hospitals in the province.
Under the advisory, state hospitals in the province were tasked to establish specific zones or lanes dedicated solely to the assessment and management of suspected dengue patients.
The hospitals were ordered to ensure an adequate supply of necessary medical equipment and medications, including intravenous fluids, diagnostic tools and essential medications, to effectively manage dengue cases.
The advisory also stated that hospitals should collaborate with local health authorities to inform the public about the existence and purpose of dengue fast lanes, which encourages early consultation and detection of suspected cases.
“These fast lanes are crucial for early detection, prompt treatment, efficient care to patients, and active management of dengue cases, especially during outbreaks,” the PHO said in the advisory.
Based on data from the Department of Health (DOH) in Central Luzon, Bulacan has the highest number of dengue fatalities in the region so far this year.
From Jan. 1 to Feb. 15, Bulacan has recorded seven dengue fatalities followed by Nueva Ecija with four, Pampanga with two, and Bataan and Tarlac with one each.
Governor Daniel Fernando in January issued Memorandum DRF-01132025-035 tasking all city and municipal mayors to intensify the conduct of preventive measures to avoid and control the possible rise of dengue cases in the province.
The memorandum mandates all local government units (LGUs) to conduct simultaneous and extensive cleanup activities every day in every barangay at 4 p.m., conduct search-and-destroy operations on mosquito breeding grounds regularly, encourage early and immediate consultation at health centers or hospitals when experiencing dengue symptoms, and maintain a clean and unclogged irrigation system.
The LGUs were also ordered to conduct massive information dissemination and community forums about dengue. (PNA)
