The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) will lead the nationwide observance
of the 24th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW) from June 16 to 22, 2026,
reaffirming its commitment to promote depositor protection, financial literacy, and public
trust in the Philippine banking system.
With the theme, “Kapag sa bangko may ipon, handa anumang panahon,” this year’s
celebration highlights the value of saving in banks to help weather life’s uncertainties and
underscores the benefits of being financially prepared for future and emergency needs.
The theme is a timely reminder in today’s economic climate, which poses financial
challenges for many Filipinos. Furthermore, it encourages Filipinos to take action and
develop the habit of saving in banks, where their hard-earned money is protected by
deposit insurance of up to P1 million per depositor, per bank.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 358, series of 2003, the annual observance of
DPAW also aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting financial inclusion and
sustaining economic growth.
To reach more Filipinos, the PDIC has enjoined banks, bank associations, partners in the
government and private sectors to share DPAW campaign materials in their bank or office
premises and on their digital platforms. Additionally, the PDIC will also roll out various
digital information materials through online magazine features, social media posts, and
media engagements.
The PDIC aims to help Filipinos better understand the benefits of keeping their savings in
banks and the importance of making informed financial decisions during this year’s DPAW
observance.
