MANILA – Police seized counterfeit footwear products worth PHP75 million in three warehouses in Bulacan and arrested four Chinese nationals.
In a statement, Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said police simultaneously raided Elite Globus Prime Holdings Corporation’s three warehouses in Meycauayan City on Feb. 26.
He said operatives seized a large volume of suspected counterfeit Crocs footwear worth over PHP75 million and arrested four Chinese identified as Weibin, Zhenpan, Youding and Wang, allegedly of Elite Globus Prime Holdings Corporation.
The suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service with violation of Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines) for the unauthorized use of a registered trademark or a confusingly similar mark in commerce, which may cause deception or confusion among consumers.
Torre said it is government policy to protect and secure the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors and artists to their intellectual property and creations.
“We encourage the public to report any violations, illegal activities, or trade malpractices involving infringed and counterfeit products, and your CIDG will do the rest,” Torre said. (PNA)
